The comedy games have just begun! The Tampa Improv Comedy Theatre & Restaurant is thrilled to bring the Tampa Bay area a comedy competition like no other - the fifth annual Clash of the Comics!
The Clash of the Comics is a cross between comedy Olympics & Last Comic Standing. This year's competition will take place between May 20-25 throughout the Bay Area.
After surviving the audition and preliminary showcase, three comedians are left and will compete in the final Clash on Thursday, May 22nd at 8:00pm. The competition will be held in three rounds, each with a different topic, and in the end only one will stand up to the challenge and emerge victorious!
COMPETITION SCHEDULE
*May 14 & 20 - Preliminary Showcase: 10 comics compete and the audience will vote for two comics who will remain in the competition.
*May 21 - Semi-Finals: The top 10 comics, including the two from May 20th's Preliminary Round, will compete for the top three spots in the finals. The scores from special guest judges (paired with with industry judges) will determine the winner.
*May 22 - Final Clash: The top three comics compete in three rounds for the title and up to $500 in cash & prizes!
Special Guest Emcee: Mike McCarthy May 20!
Known as “ The Comedy Barbarian”, Mike takes to the stage like a titan and does not relent until every member of the audience is under his spell & laughing at things they never thought they could. Some comics make you laugh, Mike McCarty will make you laugh until your cry! He can recognized for his work on Showtime’s Comedy Club Network, Comedy Central, and Fox. don’t miss this high-energy, balls-to-the-wall experience!
Special Guest: RON MOREY May 14!
When Ron isn't performing his favorite charity work, buying lots of beer for starving college students, he is entertaining troops for the USO in such places as Italy, Spain, Greece, Bahrain and Kuwait. He has also been featured on NFL Filmas Blast. PBS, ad Comedy Central. Other television credits include A&E's Evening at the Improv and the Best Medicine on PBS. Ron's energetic show, which includes music, impressions and characters, was recently well received at ASU, Loyola Marymount and Albertson College.
He drives a brown '86 Jetta with a cracked windsheild. His favorite color is green. His mom is Scottish and his dad is from New York.
Special Guest: CHRISTIAN FINNEGAN May 22!
Christian Finnegan is a stand-up comedian, writer and actor based in New York City. He can currently be seen as a panelist on VH1's his series Best Week Ever and as host of TVLand's interstitial game show, Game Time. Other credits include his own half-hour special, Comedy Central Presents: Christian Finnegan, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson and numerous appearances on The Today Show. You might also have caught him on Chappelle's Show playing Chad, the only white roommate in the infamous "Mad Real World" sketch.
Christian's debut stand-up CD, Two For Flinching, was released by Comedy Central Records in October 2006. It's available in stores everywhere, on iTunes and at ComedyCentral.com.
Comics interested in performing must send a sample of their work No later than April 1st for consideration.
